OBJ Import for IntelliCAD is an Alias® Wavefront OBJ file import plug-in for IntelliCAD® powered applications. This plug-in gives IntelliCAD powered applications the ability to import geometric data from OBJ files.

Alias (now part of Autodesk) is the world's leading innovator of 2D/3D graphics technology for the film, video, games, interactive media, industrial design, automotive industry and visualization markets. Their OBJ ASCII file format is widely accepted the world over for exchanging data between CAD applications. OBJ files contain objects which are made up of groups of 3 or 4 sided faces. OBJ Import for IntelliCAD converts these groups of faces into PolyFace Mesh entities and adds them to the active drawing.

OBJ Import for IntelliCAD is very easy to use. Once installed, it must be loaded into the IntelliCAD environment. Once loaded it adds new commands to IntelliCAD's existing commands and a new submenu called "OBJImport" to the IntelliCAD menu containing these newly added commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

The OBJ file format is a geometry definition file format first developed by Wavefront Technologies for its Advanced Visualizer animation package. The file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors, making it a universally accepted geometry file format. The OBJ file format is a simple data format that represents 3D geometry alone - namely, the position of each vertex, the texture coordinate associated with a vertex, the normal at each vertex, and the faces that make each polygon.
